Navigating through the first quarter of 2021, the performance of the top 5 Navigation & Maps applications on the Android platform in the United States showcased varied user engagement and download metrics. Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look into how these apps fared during this period.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, despite not generating revenue, saw a significant increase in downloads, starting at 69K in the last week of December and peaking at 104K in the last week of March. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, growing from 1.39M to 1.5M during the quarter.

Google Earth also had zero revenue but experienced a steady download rate, beginning with 47K and fluctuating to end at 53K in March. Its active users saw a gradual increase from 398K to 467K over the same period, indicating sustained interest.

For GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation, revenue numbers were small, ranging from $151 to $376 weekly. Download numbers for the app showed a slight decline from 37K to 27K, while weekly active users dropped from 170K in late December to 152K by the end of March.

GPS Maps, Navigation & Traffic had modest revenue, with the highest being $660 in one week. Downloads dipped from 25K to 13K, and active users also saw a decrease from 35K to 23K, indicating a downward trend in engagement.

Lastly, MapQuest: Get Directions did not generate revenue but had a relatively stable download range between 9K and 15K. Weekly active users showed a small drop from 36K to 38K, remaining fairly consistent throughout the quarter.
